BARWA BANK SUPPORTS NATIONAL BLOOD DONATION DRIVE
Barwa Bank, Qatar's fastest growing Shari’ah compliant bank, took part in blood donation at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) mobile unit at the Barwa Bank Head Quarters last week. HMC later awarded Barwa Bank with a certificate in recognition of its support.
Employees from across the bank’s branch network turned out to give blood during the one day blood donation drive in order to show their support for the national blood donation campaign launched recently by HMC in response to the growing demand for blood.
Steve Troop, CEO, Barwa Bank Group commented on the initiative, “We wanted to get behind this national campaign to encourage blood donation as well as do our part to benefit the lives of patients in Qatar. Voluntary blood donation is extremely important and we were proud to see a large number of Barwa Bank employees visit the mobile blood donation unit.”
Ibrahim Tamimi, Head of Real Estate, Admin and Facility Management (RAF), Barwa Bank who led the blood donation campaign for the bank also spoke about the experience, “The thought of being able to help save people’s lives is very inspiring and that’s why so many of us in the bank took the opportunity to give blood. I would encourage people to donate blood – it doesn’t take long and isn’t painful. The new blood donation mobile unit also makes it very convenient. It’s our way of giving back to the community”.
The bank’s support is part of its continuing humanitarian efforts and commitment to helping those in need. Earlier this year, Barwa Bank sponsored two Qatari youths to climb Mount Kilimanjaro to raise awareness of the famine in Niger as well as sponsoring children’s education in this region of Africa.
